Hypro Pingelly Supreme 2025

We were back at Pingelly trial ground for another event.  This time we had a Supreme course, which was good practice ahead of the 2025 Dogpro Supreme Australian Sheepdog Championships to be held in Northam.

Pingelly and Districts club ran a combined Improver and Open event which enabled them to run finals in each category on the last day.

The event started with a cold and foggy morning on Thursday.  The Novice dogs had to really focus to find their sheep.  It was quite eerie to see the dogs disappear as they cast into the fog, then reappearing with three sheep. The sheep for the Novice were red tag ewes which were a little heavy and quite happy to stand up to the dogs.

The weather for the rest of the weekend cycled through cold, sunny and rain.  The sheep for the combined Improver and Open event were young black tag ewes.  These sheep were noticeably lighter and more inclined to take the dogs for a run.

The top five scores in the Novice event competed in the final with Steve Wallace & Rocky Roxy on 122 points, taking the win from Peter Doherty & Ramulam Sixpence on 105 points.

The top five from the Improver event also competed in a final with Jess King & Risemoor Buck achieving a maiden win on 144 points, taking out the event from Steve Wallace & Rocky Roxy on 122 points. Rocky Roxy made the finals in all three events.

Grant Cooke dominated the Open by taking out the win with Pendalup Gilbert on 170 points beating Grassvalley Palmer on 165 points. Third place was Nan Lloyd with Kumbark Lexy on 160 points.

The new state badge was chosen at the delegates meeting. The logo was designed by Briarley Waldon of the Perth Avon club. It appears at the top of this page.

The battle to represent the state at the up-coming Supreme continues and will be finalised at the up-coming Holmbush arena event starting 24^th July 2025.

Once again, the Pingelly Tourism Group stepped up providing hot food throughout the day to the very cold wet and hungry competitors. The town of Pingelly have been great supporters of Sheepdog trialing over the years.

The judges over the weekend earned a heartfelt thanks from the competitors.
Tara Herbert judged the Novice and Novice finals. She will be judging the Novice at the Supreme with Peter Doherty.

Jenny Atherton took on the big job, judging the combined Improver/Open and the finals over two and a half days in cold and wet conditions.
